We all love a good bar and soon you’ll know the World’s Best 50. But, in true ‘all comes to those that wait’ style The World’s 50 Best Bars has [only] announced the 2017 list of bars ranked from 51-100 ahead of its prestigious annual awards event, which is taking place on Thursday, 5 October in London.
The 51-100 list signals the start of the countdown to The World’s 50 Best Bars awards in October and provides a glimpse into what is to be revealed at the hotly anticipated ceremony. Ranking in the top 100 bars in the world marks a significant achievement and offers an insight into new bars on the scene that could feature in future editions of The World’s 50 Best Bars list itself.
The World’s 50 Best Bars is now fully owned and organised by William Reed Business Media, the company that also owns The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

This year’s 51-100 list of The World’s Best Bars includes bars from 20 countries across the globe. Highlights include 21 new entries from 14 different cities, reflecting the reach and breadth of the global drinks scene. The highest debut in 2017 is by Mexico’s Fifty Mils at No.61, with other new entrants from the US (Angel’s Share, No.86), Spain (Paradiso, No.67 and Salmon Guru, No.82), Portugal (Red Frog, No.92), Brazil (Frank Bar, No.66, Guilhotina, No.73 and SubAstor, No.90) and Chile (Siete Negronis, No.100).
Eight of the new entries in this up-and-coming ranking are bars located in Europe. The UK has four bars making their entrance onto the prestigious list, all from London, the cocktail capital of the world: Three Sheets (No.71), Scout (No. 81), Sager & Wilde (No.87) and Swift (No.95).
Le Chamber (No.56) in Seoul, South Korea lead Asia’s new crop of entries. With other notable achievements from Potato Head Beach Club (No.99) in Bali, Indonesia, marking the first time a bar in Bali has featured in the top 100. Japan has multiple reasons to celebrate with four entries, including two new entries from Tokyo: Gen Yamamoto, (No.88) and Bar Orchard Ginza (No.93).
The 51-100 list is compiled from the votes of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy as part of same process that creates the 1-50 ranking, the most influential and respected global survey of its kind. For 2017, the Academy expanded to include over 500 industry experts from 55 countries worldwide.
Representatives from The World’s 50 Best Bars will gather together to find out their rankings at the awards ceremony at London’s historic Southwark Cathedral on Thursday 5 October during London Cocktail Week.
This year’s event, which gathers together the best bartending talent from around the globe, will also see a range of new accolades introduced.
The One To Watch Award that will identify an international rising star bar, selected from the 51-100 list. The Industry Icon Award will honour one of the greats of the cocktail world for his or her lifetime’s work. The Best New Opening Award recognises the newcomer which has generated the most excitement, while the Bartenders’ Bartender Award goes to an individual nominated by the bartenders on The World’s 50 Best Bars list.
