Woodford Reserve Celebrates Old Fashioned Week

Now that Halloween is over, we can all put away the costumes and get ourselves excited about Old Fashioned Week which takes place from 1st-10th November, bringing drinks enthusiasts and cocktail aficionados all around the world together to celebrate one of the world’s best loved cocktails.

Some of the UK’s best bars are taking part by serving up twists on the original recipe and inviting the public to pay them a visit and enjoy different twists on the cocktail at special prices.

One of our favourite bourbons, Woodford Reserve, is an official partner this year and have worked with bartenders from 285 bars across the UK to showcase the importance of flavour and to offer their unique take on the cocktail.

With over 200 detectable flavour notes, Woodford Reserve’s Distiller’s Select bourbon will bring these to life through its 5 key flavour profiles; grain, wood, sweet aromatics, fruit and floral and spice.

Kicking off in London, Soho institution Swift will be serving up a sweet take on an Old Fashioned called the ‘Timber’, inspired by Woodford Reserve’s sweet aromatic flavour notes.

For those staying locally, check out Murder Inc’s grain influenced, ‘Oryzae Does It Mate!’ while spice lovers can head down to Discount Suit Company where they can experience a spicy, ‘Fast and Loose’ amongst Spitalfields scenesters and City pros.

Finally, minimalist icons, Three Sheets, will offer a woody twist with their nutty alternative labelled ‘Whiskey + Milk’ as Islington haunt Homeboy list a fruity ‘Orchard Old Fashioned’.

To take the experience home, Woodford Reserve have created a special giftpack for you to try your own variation at home.

The first includes a 700ml bottle of 700ml Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Bourbon as well as a 60ml Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup. Priced around £32 and available from selected Waitrose stores and Amazon.

The second comes with Old Fashioned glassware and a 200ml bottle of Woodford Reserve, available from Sainsbury’s for £20.
