RUSH: World Premiere and Review

It’s a simple as this people, get ready to update you top films of the year list!

Last week was a busy on in the world of Cut The Cap and it started brilliantly with a trip to Leicester Square, London to see the latest film from Academy-Award winner Ron Howard – RUSH. From top to bottom RUSH is full of major Hollywood talent… It’s written by fellow Academy-Award nominee Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), and starring Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers), Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) and Olivia Wilde (Tron, Cowboys and Aliens).

So what’s all the fuss about? The ‘fuss’ that is RUSH is the fast-paced, action-packed and exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the sport has ever witnessed – James Hunt (Hemsworth) versus Niki Lauda (Brühl) and their illustrious Formula 1 racing teams, McLaren versus Ferrari. Set against the golden age of Formula 1 racing.

We absolutely loved this film! As you follow the privileged, charismatic and handsome English playboy, James Hunt could who could not be more different from his reserved and methodical opponent, Austrian born Niki Lauda do battle. You journey with them both through their checkered personal lives both on and off the track and charts their rivalry from its inception in Formula 3. Here they competed viciously against each other until Lauda’s superior business acumen and surgeon like precision behind the wheel propelled him all the way to Formula 1; eventually landing him the number one spot at Ferrari. However it was not long before unruly golden boy James Hunt fought his way into Formula 1, and into the hearts of a nation, dramatically seizing the world championship from Lauda and proving to the critics, and more importantly himself, that there was real substance beneath his stylish exterior.

Polar opposites pitted against each other in the most dangerous sport in the world, Hunt and Lauda were pushed to the breaking point of their physical and psychological endurance. In the final race to the chequered flag these two men knew there were no short cuts to victory and no margin for error. You make a mistake in this sport and you die. They lived on the edge. They lived for the moment. They lived for the RUSH!

This film delivers in a big way, mixing action with raw emotion whilst capturing the thrills and excitement of Formula 1 and the 1976 season that was Hunt vs Lauda. Not much else to say apart from 5 Stars all the way from CutTheCap!

Now all that’s left to do is watch the trailer and book your tickets – RUSH is in cinemas from this Friday (September 13th).
