About Romeo y Julieta
The Romeo y Julieta brand was set up as a mark of Habanos in 1875, and is rooted in the literary tragedy of the same name by the English playwright William Shakespeare.
The brand achieved international fame in the early nineteenth century, after Don “Pepin” Rodriguez was the first to recognize the importance of the rings as a factor of success. It is estimated that the production uses up to 20,000 different rings.
Winston Churchill was one of the most devoted smokers of the brand Romeo y Julieta. Since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name was not only used in the rings of Habanos, but named the best known of the cigars of the brand: the Churchill’s of Romeo y Julieta. (Hence why today we have Churchill sized cigars)
