Playboy Club London open to Non Members

I was so excited when I heard this, I had to share it with the world (well with Cut the Cap is a good start)

Kicking off tonight, Playboy Club London will open its doors to Non Members for monthly wine evenings that will continue every first Wednesday of the month. Mark it in your diaries!

Tickets are priced at a moderate £50 per head, and is the perfect opportunity to get beyond the velvet rope and get a glimpse into the world of Playboy Club London. (Imagine being able to check in on Facebook at Playboy Club?)

The evenings will be hosted by Playboy Club London’s very own Sommelier James Lloyd, who will be on hand to teach you all there is to know about wines to suit every occasion and taste.
James has run some of the most prestigious wine programs around the world.
His career started 14 years ago in a hotel in South London where he first discovered the wine world by accident. Since then he has worked with Gordon Ramsay, based at Gordon’s 3 Michelin star establishment but had helped control all of the Ramsay brand restaurants worldwide.

He was also the Head Sommelier for Marcus Wareing creating the list from scratch and retaining its 2 Star Michelin rating in its first year. Other great chefs he has worked with include Pierre Koffmann and Alain Ducasse.

James also spent a year making wine in the great region of Piedmont living in Alba – the home of the luxurious Truffle and making Barbaresco’s, Barolo’s, Arneis, international blends and Moscato d’Asti.

So as you can see, he knows his stuff and I’m sure he can teach you a few things about wines to make you look good in front of your friends.

Some of the events have been confirmed already and here they are:

SPARKLING WINE and nibbles (December 7)
An opportunity to see how Sparkling wine / Champagne from around the world encourages more diversity with food other than purely as a celebratory drink. They will be talking through how unique the production of sparkling wine / Champagne is and what effects laws and terroir have on the final product.

BIO-DYNAMIC AND ORGANIC WINES and dinner (January 4)
A chance to fully understand the processes in creating bio-dynamic and organic wines, and what these techniques bring to the wines that are made in this way.
They give a detailed explanation to the pros and cons of this process and how the affects of not making wines this way can affect the wine making production for many generations to come.

DESSERT TASTING and pudding (February 1) (aka Kiss the diet goodbye)
This will be a chance to try the often misunderstood world of Sweet wines. They will be trying great food and wine pairings and an opportunity to fully understand how food and wine pairings work to lift each other to make a wonderful palate experience.
Each wine theme will be accompanied by appropriate food created by their Executive Chef Judy Joo – the stylish Korean food expert who worked alongside some of the world’s top chefs at Michelin-starred restaurants including Gordon Ramsay, Fat Duck and French Laundry. The highly-ambitious Joo brought her passion for fine cuisine to Playboy Club London and launched her restaurant The Dining Room at Playboy London in June when the club opened.
