The pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics Amazon Goddess, known as Wonder Woman (aka Diana Prince) who is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. It’s tough for a superhero, When will she have time to check her Facebook?

The pilot will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (The Event). According to sources, Palicki was the only actress asked to test for the role.

Palicki, 27, will play the role made famous by Lynda Carter in the 1970s in a revamped US television series.

The 5ft 11 ins actress was born in Ohio and was a runner at high school, where she was only named runner-up in a homecoming queen contest. I bet she can’t wait for her reunion!

She describes herself as a “huge comic book fan” and has a tattoo of the character Supergirl. ‘Close enough right’??

The actress has just finished appearing in a US television series called Friday Night Lights, in which she plays a cheerleader, and is also due to star in a remake of the 1984 war film Red Dawn.

Wonder Woman, a DC Comics character, was originally created in the Second World War, and Lynda Carter was also a relative unknown when chosen to play her on television.

Lynda Carter, the original actress appeared to approve of her successor. She posted a message on a social networking website saying: “Congratulations Adrianne!”

Good luck Adrianneeeeeee (in a Rocky voice)
