Microsoft to announce Xbox 720 next month

We wake up today to the news that Microsoft will announce their Xbox 720 next month.

The new console, which has been described as “a new generation of games, TV and entertainment”, will be revealed on May 21 at a press event on Xbox’s Redmond campus.

The conference will be streamed live online, through Xbox Live and on Spike TV. It seems the hold a streamed event for everything nowadays!

“On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future,” said Xbox Live director Larry Hyrb.
“Then, 19 days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.

“We are thrilled to pull back the curtain and reveal what we’ve been working on.”

A May 21 reveal had been previously rumoured for the system, alongside reported launch titles Ryse and Forza Motorsport.
There are rumours around the net that the Xbox 720 will launch before the end of the year and feature Kinect 2.0, 3D technology and the long-rumoured Xbox TV.

A recent report suggested that the system will not require an always-online internet connection, despite previous rumours suggesting otherwise.
