With Oscar season round the corner, last night I finally got round to seeing Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours (late I know).
I have to say the film is a fantastic piece of cinema, and I don’t usually use words like ‘Fantastic’
The cinematography is unbelievable and James Franco’s performance was incredible.
From the beginning he grabs you in and before you know you, you’ve been staring at his face for 45 minutes without even realising.
In a recent interview Danny Boyle said that James Franco is like the next De Niro or Pacino, and after last nights viewing I agree.
Through his acting you are bale to experience the emotions and everything that Aron Ralston went through being trapped under that rock.
The film is the true story of Aron Ralston, A mountain climber becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive.
Throughout the film, its like your there with him, as he tries different ways to get himself free.
In the end it left me with the question – would I be brave enough to do what he did?
This is one of my big Oscar picks, so good luck James Franco (who is also hosting the Academy Awards this year.
If you havent seen it yet, go check it out, but I warn you know, you will be holding your arm in some scenes..ouch!
