Its that time of year, the Christmas break a distant memory and the summer holiday’s are still so far away… time to think mini-I-owe-myself-for-all-my-hard-work-so-far-this-year-break!

What better place to do explore than Amsterdam and we’ve stumbled across a pretty cool way to do said exploring with Room Mate Hotels

Room Mate Aitana is the latest hotel offering from contemporary Spanish design hotel chain Room Mate Hotels, whose philosophy is that the best way to travel is by visiting friends who can convey their knowledge and personal experiences of their homes.

This particular hotel is located on a new artificial island nestled in the heart of Amsterdam and a short walk from both Amsterdam Central Station and the famous Dam Square making it the perfect location to explore all the city has to offer.

What we really love about the whole concept of Room Mate Hotels and what is shown by the bucket loads at Room Mate Aitana it that it offers its guests affordable luxury and a welcoming spirit, which is what the hotels have become famous for around the world.

Each of the Room Mate Hotels reflect genuine characteristics of a true host, where customers are more than guests, they are ‘roommates’.

Aitana’s facilities boast 283 modern rooms including different categories like standard, twins, thematic rooms (bicycle, ceramic, graffiti), junior suites and long stay suites, 7 meeting rooms, a restaurant and lounge bar and business and fitness center.
The hotel also has a marina with a capacity for 60 moorings for its international visitors.

Thankfully Room Mate Hotels understands the importance for their guests to stay connected and that not everyone wants breakfast when its still dark! That’s why they have been offering free wifi in all areas of the hotel since 2005 and breakfast is also served until noon everyday to ensure everyone can fully relax whilst on holiday. #Result.

Room rates are around €150 – €160 which in our opinion means you get a lot of bang for your buck!

But if Amsterdam isn’t for you fear not. The hotel concept already has 18 sites around the world and is in the process of expanding with new hotels planned in the next 24 months, including a second hotel in New York and two more in Barcelona as well as new sites in Istanbul, Bogotá, Rotterdam, Rome and Milan. The company is also looking at London and Paris as key destinations to expand to – so dust of that passport and get ready to see some of the best cities in the world in true style!
