Point Break Remake Offical

Today, Alcon Entertainment officially announced a remake of Point Break was in the works.

We’ve heard rumours here and there, but nothing has been confirmed until now.

The new film is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring. The script is written by Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen).

“Who doesn’t love the Kathryn Bigelow original and its pure heart-pounding action and thrills,” said producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. “Kurt’s take infuses the story and characters with new twists and settings.”

The original was released in 1991 and starred Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze and cigar smoker Gary Busey

Fun Fact about the original:

Matthew Broderick was originally offered the role of Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeve’s role). Others who auditioned were Johnny Depp and Charlie Sheen.
