Last time we saw a film in Bangkok, it involved 3 guys looking for their friend Teddy with the help of Mr Chow.
This time, we have Ryan ‘knows how to wear a suit’ Gosling putting his dukes up in the action thriller ‘Only God Forgives’
Not to be confused with the 2Pac track Only god can judge me, the film sees Julian (Ryan Gosling) running a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. While he has everything he wants for and is respected in the criminal underworld though, deep inside, he feels empty. (some people are just never happy)
When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance (Vithaya Pansringarm).
Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand. When Julian’s mother Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas) – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body, she dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.
I’m sure there wont be any hilarious consequences in this film but there will be some serious arse kicking.
Our advice: Never piss off an american in the far east, have you never seen Bloodsport, Kickboxer or any Jean Claude film for that matter?
The film is smashing through cinema screens on 2nd August and stars Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Vithaya Pansrigarm so be sure to check it out, or Ryan may just pay you a visit!
