John Leguizamo in London for Ghetto Klown

Yesterday I was on my way back to the office and while waiting for the lift I noticed a guy walk in wearing sunglasses.

It took me a few glances to realise I was standing next to John Leguizamo aka the Latin from Manhattan.

I’m not the type to brag, but I have met a few celebrities in my time, however for once I was actually star struck. This was the guy I grew up watching in ‘The Pest’ and ‘Super Mario bros’.

To make things even stranger, I’ve just picked up his autobiography ‘Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas, and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends: My Life’.  (which is a fantastic book by the way)

As we entered the lift I was unable to just say nothing, I went on to tell him how bizarre it was that I was sharing a lift with him, as I’ve just started reading his book.

John (I’m mates at this point) was really nice, and replied by saying that if I had brought it into work that day he would have signed it. (The one day I choose IPod over book and look what happens! take note kids)

We exited the lift and at that point John shook my hand and went on his merry way. I couldn’t help feel gutted as well as amazed that I forgot my book, but on the flip side I just shook Benny Blanco’s (from the Bronx) hand!

I shook the hand that killed Carlito in Carlito’s way! What are the odds? and why the hell didn’t I get a picture? This was one of my childhood idols. Watching ‘The Pest’ was a strong influence on my personality growing up. It was what made me decide to be the clown of the group.

Anyway enough about my life, it turns out John was in town for his 1 man show that’s taking place at Charing Cross Theatre called Ghetto Klown.

It’s been playing on Broadway and now it comes to London for just 17 nights.

I will hopefully be booking tickets today if I can find someone to come with me, and will hopefully do a review once I’ve been….and maybe I’ll get that book signed after all!
