Eye Movement in Cinema

Check out this video below of an experiement that took place using 11 adult viewers being shown a video and their eye movements recorded using an Eyelink 1000 (SR Research) infra-red camera-based eyetracker. (we all have one at home right?)

Each dot represents the center of one viewer’s gaze. The size of each dot represents the length of time they have held fixation.

The viewers were shown the 2007 movie There Will be Blood.

Good job it wasn’t Debbie Does Dallas, or there would be a risk of blindness….
