El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions Volume One – Review

As we approach the end of summer and the holiday blues begin to sink in, we all start searching for things that remind us of the great summer we have experienced…

Today was no different until we were handed El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions Volume One to help with those blues.

The collection is a unique compilation brought to you by Balearic label Seamless Recordings and what makes things even better for this release is that €1 for every CD sold goes to charity (always nice to give back)

The compilation features live sets from Groove Armada and Ibiza favourite, Mr Doris and is packed with unreleased material and exclusive reedits recorded at El Chiringuito Beach Club.

If you are unsure as to where El Chiringuito Beach Club is, it’s situated on the shores of the Mediterranean at Es Cavallet Beach in Ibiza.

El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions Volume One Packshot HI RES

Over the years a partnership has grown with Andy Cato and Groove Armada resulting in a series of events that are free and help raise money for charity. This debut El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions was recorded live at one of those nights for the 2013 summer opening.

Disc one comes from We Love and Pacha resident, Mr Doris kicking off with some laid back chill out vibes before building up into funk, soul and with a splash of Latin and Afro beats, where we are in our element. Perfect to accompany a cigar and a cocktail this disc offers the ultimate chill out soundtrack

‘Part Of Me’ by Dr Rubberfunk will have you nodding your head in approval and tapping your feet to the soulful beat, while Jazz sensation Gregory Porter offers a climax to the mix with 1960 What? Which will leave you ready to advance to CD 2 to get the party really started.

Stick on Disc 2 which instantly takes things from the beach to the club with the energetic track ‘Closer’ from Groove Armada who are also in the mix for this deliciously mixed up bag of treats.

By the time you get to Ghetto Kraviz by Nina Kraviz you are guaranteed to be fist pumping in your living room (or hopefully not in a public place like we ended up doing)

The album takes you on a journey from relaxing at the beach listening to chill out beats all the way to the club having you dance like nobody’s watching.

Groove Armada, aka Andy Cato and Tom Findlay who have mixed CD waived their album fees to allow €1 for each CD sold to go to The Doncaster Youth Jazz Association; a charity that offers life changing musical education to youngsters. The charity sits close to Cato’s heart having once put an instrument in his own hand and taught him how to play.

El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions not only plays a part in Groove Armada’s on-going efforts to fundraise for the charity, but also to keep the free-party spirit alive.

And now you can bring the Ibiza style party to your living room with El Chiringuito Beach House Sessions.
