Burns Night Whisky Guide

This Sunday sees Burns night taking place and as we all scramble to trace our Scottish routes everyone will be celebrating in one way or another.

For those that don’t know Burns night is a yearly event held on 25th January to celebrate the life of and poetry of Robert Burns.

For some (including us) it will be a chance to reach to the top shelf and indulge in some quality Scottish whisky.

And to celebrate, we thought we would put together a list of Scottish Whisky you should be enjoying this Sunday on Burns night (and just in general).

Let us know what you will be sipping this weekend to celebrate Mr Robert Burns.

Bowmore Black Rock
Available in a special gift pack, Bowmore Black Rock comes complete with a set of textured black slate coasters that are reminiscent of Black Rock; the jagged outcrop that rises majestically from the treacherous water of Loch Idaal, and which the classic whisky is named after.

From this Whisky, expect an infusion of raisins, pepper, cocoa beans and burnt orange, balanced with delicious peat smoke and treacle toffee.

Available for £44.99 across selected Travel Retail & Duty Free retailers throughout Europe.

Balblair Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky
Why not pour yourself a glass of Balblair Highland Single Malt, which we are told is the only scotch to be exclusively released in Vintages.

Their Balblair Vintage 1990 makes the perfect dram to be enjoyed at Burns Night alongside the traditional Burns Supper.

Balblair 1990[1]

Balblair Vintage 1990 2nd Release is matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, but with the addition of Spanish oak ex-sherry butts. Offering a medley of spicy and sweet aromas, punctuated with notes of raisins, toffee and honey. Stockists include Balblair’s
Expect a whisky that is full bodied; sweet and spicy in character with hints of honey, raisins and zesty fruits along with a finish is smooth and long-lasting.

Available for around £90 and is available via their online shop.

Haig Club
Launched late last year with the help of David Beckham, Haig Club is made at Cameronbridge distillery in Scotland. Crafted using a unique process that combines grain whisky from three cask types.

Expect a fresh, clean style that showcases butterscotch and toffee for an ultra-smooth taste. Easy to sip on the rocks or within a cocktail, Haig Club is a versatile spirit for people with all tastes.
