The Hackney Wick Food Assembly is returning to the award winning Number 90…
Its no secret that here at Cut The Cap we like our food and so when we heard that the Hackney Wick Food Assembly was back after a hugely successful UK launch we had to get involved….
It was only last Tuesday that over 500 people flock to Number 90 for the incredible launch and taster party of the UK’s first ever The Food Assembly. The new food phenomena enables people to buy local produce directly from farmers and food producers online and collect from a local venue where they will meet the people who made it – not a bad idea by all accounts!
Its pretty good stuff what they are trying to achieve. The mission is to change the way food is distributed, making farm to fork systems the rule not the exception. Promote a fairer and transparent distribution of revenues, more value for producers rather than to the middlemen. Connect people who care about good food online and offline and in so doing raise awareness about the benefits of connecting virtual and real worlds.
Returning for its second outing on Tuesday 29th July, the online shop is open, inviting people to purchase quality local produce from the likes of urban cheese-makers Wildes Cheese or delicious sourdough from Better Health Bakery and then collect from Hackney’s canal-side venue Number 90. Alongside meeting the producers there will be free samples and tasters on hand, local art exhibited and music from local DJ collectives…
