For the very first time, the renowned Summer Night Concert performed by world famous orchestra, The Vienna Philharmonic, in the stunning gardens of Schönbrunn Palace will be broadcast live to London.
On Thursday 26th May 2016 The Vienna Tourist Board will present an exclusive live broadcast of this eagerly anticipated performance at the Riverside Grass, adjacent to London’s Oxo Tower, as well as in three other European cities.

Vienna Summer Night ConcertFollow the Summer Night’s Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic live: on Thursday 26th May 2016, music fans can do precisely that in London (with parallel broadcasts in Madrid, Monza and Bucharest) thanks to an exclusive global first! The Vienna Tourist Board and the Vienna Philharmonic are inviting lovers of music to attend a free live broadcast by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) at the Riverside Grass next to the Oxo Tower. We’ve done the research and yes you can take your finest, nearest and dearest with you light them up and and take it all in….

From 7.15pm, the Vienna Philharmonic can be seen performing under Semyon Bychkov alongside pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque on an 8x5m LED wall. Embedded in a scale model of Vienna’s Gloriette, the spectacle will give visitors the impression that they are following the concert live at the open-air event in the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace!

The programme for this year’s Summer Night’s Concert includes works by Georges Bizet, Hector Berlioz, Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel. Free picnic blankets will be available at the Riverside Grass in London, and if the British weather doesn’t hold up, ponchos will be provided to keep the audience dry! Gastronomic highlights include a food truck serving Austrian delights such as chicken schnitzel buns and Applestrudel.

On Wednesday 25th May 2016, the day before the live broadcast, the Vienna Tourist Board will be at the Riverside Grass to provide passersby with information about the cultural event and the Austrian capital as a tourist destination. Visitors to the information stand will also have the chance to try out the interactive NAMADEUS music game, which translates names into original Mozart tracks.

Anyone who takes part in the Vienna Tourist Board’s unique competition by sharing their best moments at the Summer Night’s Concert using the #viennaconcert hashtag is in with a chance of winning an exclusive trip to the city. This fantastic prize includes a meet and greet with the musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic as they practice for the upcoming New Year’s Concert, and a trip for two to Vienna from 29th December, 2016 to 1st January, 2017.
